Background of the Study
Sports events are often used as platforms for social cohesion and promoting national or local unity. In Nigeria, sports advertising has been recognized as a powerful tool for mobilizing communities and fostering unity. In Gwarzo LGA, Kano State, sports events have the potential to bridge divides and unite diverse ethnic and religious groups. Advertising campaigns promoting these events can play a key role in raising awareness, increasing participation, and fostering a sense of collective identity. Previous studies, such as those by Olagunju et al. (2023), have highlighted the role of sports advertising in community cohesion and peacebuilding.
